How it works: light needed (lumens) = floor area × target lux. Fixtures = light needed ÷ lumens per fixture.

These are quick estimates using standard illuminance guidelines, for general guidance only. Real requirements vary with ceiling height, wall & floor colours, fixture beam spread and how the space is used. For a precise, project-specific lighting plan, get in touch or message us on WhatsApp.

— The Basics

Understanding light.

A quick glossary so the numbers make sense — handy whether you're buying for a home, a shop, or a whole project.

Lumens (lm)

The total light a fixture gives out. More lumens = brighter. A 9W LED bulb is roughly 800 lm.

Lux

Brightness landing on a surface — lumens spread over an area (1 lux = 1 lm per m²). Each space needs a different level.

Watts (W)

The power a fixture draws. With LED, more lumens per watt means lower bills for the same brightness.

Colour temperature (K)

The warmth of the light — 2700K is warm & cosy, 4000K neutral, 6500K cool daylight.

IP rating

Protection from dust & water. IP20 indoors, IP65–66 outdoors, IP68 for fountains & water features.

Beam angle

How wide the light spreads — narrow for accents & spotlighting, wide for even, general illumination.
